Cute and Simple Dog Accent Wall

Our dogs are our babies! We love them so so much, but we’ve always struggled with where to keep their food bowls. Recently we re-did our Sunroom, which you can check out HERE, so the bowls had to find a new home. We tried a few different places, but finally decided on this little wall by our garage door. There isn’t a ton of space here, but I thought it was the perfect spot to create a cute and simple dog accent wall!

There are so many ways you can take this idea and make it your own. You could add a cute wallpaper, board and batten, or any other type of wall accent! I decided to leave ours pretty simple because I’d like to eventually add board and batten on the opposite wall, but really the possibilities are endless.

Here’s what I did with mine!

I wanted this space to be super personalized, so I made sure to add in little details to accomplish that. I gave the dogs each a side of the wall, with the exception of their treat jars. Zoe is on the left side and Luna on the right. Zoe has a tendency to not eat her food right away and will guard her bowl until she’s ready to eat. Dogs are so silly! Keeping this in mind, I put her bowl closer to the carpet so she can be more comfortable while she’s guarding it. Think about those kinds of things while you are planning your design, then decorate around them. Remember you want your space to be pretty, but also functional!

Photo Frames

I hung a photo of each of our dogs at the top of the wall using simple black frames. I love this, because it really shows whose side is whose, which creates that personalization. Plus, I know I am probably biased, but they are just adorable so it’s fun to have their pictures up on the wall!

Shelf

Then I added this rustic shelf. This was a must because it allowed me to make the space that much better with some fun details.

I found a Love Is a Four Legged Word sign while shopping for the shelf and had to grab it. That paired with the little dog figurine is the perfect combination!

I also added some plastic jars with labels for our dog treats. I made sure they were plastic, because my kids usually let the dogs out and I didn’t want any accidents happening while grabbing the treats. This is such an easy trick. Pick out something super inexpensive and dress it up with some labels!

Dog Bone Hooks

I couldn’t pass up these bone shaped hooks. I mean, how cute are these? They are perfect for holding our dog leashes and harnesses. It’s all these little details that can really make your space!

Bowls & Rug

This part was a bit of a struggle for me at first. This space is just the width of a hallway and pretty close to our garage door, so I had to get a little creative. Here’s what I came up with! I could have used a runner down the whole hallway but I really didn’t want to, so I grabbed this really cute black and white rug and folded it in half. That created the perfect sized rug for the dog bowls and you can hardly even tell it was folded. Problem solved! We’ve had the matching bowls for awhile and I love them. I got them from TJ Maxx. They always have such a good selection for dog things!

The final look!

This was just what this little wall needed. I’m totally in love with it and it was super simple to create! I do have to give my husband most of the props for this one though. He hung everything and made sure it was all level and centered. I just don’t have the patience for that, so thank you Hubby for being more patient than I!
