The Best Pool Accessories You Need
I know that summer is coming to an end, but here in the south the warm weather thankfully lasts a little bit longer! We’ve had our pool now for 3 years, so we’ve learned quite a bit over that time. In this blog post I’m going to share some of the best pool accessories you need. If the weather where you are is already cooling off, or you are thinking about getting a pool next season make sure you bookmark this for next year!

Kindle
The Kindle is my number one pool accessory! If you love to read, get yourself a Kindle and go float in the sun with a good book.
The kindle allows you to read in the direct sunlight, plus it’s waterproof. It’s really a no-brainer!
Floats
I’m a float girlie. Like I said, I love to float and read on my Kindle, but it’s taken me a long time to find one I truly love. This Sloosh pool float has been my favorite so far!
There are so many things I love about this float. The first thing that caught my attention was the attached cup holder, with a spot for your phone. Done! This was one of the things that actually sold me on even trying this float. I don’t know about you, but I feel like the cup holders on floats are always in odd spots that just fill with water and don’t fully function. This extra little attachment is honestly the best part of the float. Other things I love are the vent holes. It gets hot floating around in the sun. The holes allow water to still flow around you, which keeps you a lot cooler. It also has an adjustable backrest, so you can decide how much you’d like to sit up. It’s honestly the perfect float for reading in the pool!
Float Storage
Keeping on the topic of floats, they need storage. It’s the worst when a float gets holes, which is inevitable unfortunately, but to help prevent that as much as possible make sure you store them somewhere safe. This nylon mesh organizer is what we are using right now.
So far we are loving it! It’s great for keeping the floats up off of the deck and the mesh allows them to dry so you don’t get that weird mildew smell. There are plenty of storage options out there, but I feel like they can get a bit pricey. This is a nice affordable option that works well!
Umbrella
If your pool has little to no shade, here’s a little tip for you! Use an umbrella. We have a random one from Lowes that we put on our deck at the edge of the pool. This provides at least part of the pool with some shade! I’m loving this offset umbrella.
It comes in so many fun colors and the fact that it’s offset would work perfect over a pool. We had some family over this summer and they had a little one who didn’t always like to be in the direct sunlight but loved being in the pool. The umbrella was a perfect solution!
Fountain
This pool fountain was something that we added to our pool this year, and it’s been one of my favorites!
It connects straight to your pool return jet, so it’s super quick and easy to install. We’ve loved having this fountain all summer. It’s fun for the kids, adds a nice waterfall ambiance (instead of that loud pool pump sound), and it also cools down your water by 6-10 degrees. We are from the south, so it gets super-hot here. We definitely noticed it keeping our water cooler, which was nice! This is for sure a ten out of ten for me!
Floating Speaker
Who doesn’t love listening to music while swimming? This floating pool speaker is a must have!
I love that this speaker floats so you can hear the music no matter where you are in the pool, plus it has some fun lights for nighttime swimming. The other thing I love about it is that it connects to your Bluetooth on your phone, so if you get a phone call you can answer it in the pool! It’s super inexpensive and a fun little addition to have.
Pool Robot Vacuum
This pool robot vacuum is another addition we made this year and well worth it! We got this one for my husband for Father’s Day.
We are a busy family of 5, so we don’t always have the time to vacuum the pool. This vacuum works well and is affordable! I will say, adding some old socks or hand towels to the inside of this can help catch any of the smaller debris or algae that’s on the bottom of your pool. Just a little hack for you!
That’s a wrap on some of the best pool accessories you need. Let me know in the comments which accessory was your favorite! If you want to check out what my above ground pool looks like, run over to Building Our Backyard Oasis One Board at a Time!
The fountain looks like SO much fun, but I don’t think it would be an accessory some of my HOA members would appreciate. You’ve got some great ideas!
