Why You Should Start Digital Planning Now
I’ve talked about digital planning before in my post on how to keep up with your home, but this is my absolute number one tip for busy Mamas! Let’s talk about why you should start digital planning now.
Before I found digital planning, I always used old fashioned paper planners. I personally like to see things written out. Maybe that ages me a bit, but there’s just something about a cute planner that you can personalize. I know a lot of people use their phone calendars to set reminders. This is also a good option, but I’m way more motivated when I can write down my daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. I’m talking very specific tasks, so I can…
- Hold myself accountable.
- Motivate myself to get things done during the day.
Once you complete a task, you get to check it off. Who doesn’t love a good checklist!? They make me feel like I have to get things done, and at the end of the day it’s so awesome seeing all you accomplished! I like to make multiple checklists for different things and get really specific with each task.

This is so good for Mamas who are really busy, need some motivation, or ones who have anxiety and need that extra encouragement.
Here are the reasons I love digital planning!
It’s very customizable.
This is my favorite part of digital planning. Throughout the years I’ve learned that when I make things look pretty, I’m way more likely to keep them organized. Same goes for planners. It’s super satisfying customizing all of your pages to fit your needs. I like to take a full day towards the end of the month to work on planning out the next month. Once you’ve created a system that really works for you, it’s easy to copy that format over to the next month. I always just copy and paste, then change my stickers to match my new month’s theme.

It’s super easy to make changes.
The one thing I never liked about paper planners is how hard it was to make changes. If you mess up or just need to change something, you either have to use white out or cross it out. That is the worst. With digital planning you can easily make changes! That means you can try different layouts and systems to see which work the best for you. It’s so hard to know until you really test them out. Once you do, you can tweak them however you need. In the same respect, if your day doesn’t work out as planned you can easily move your tasks to another day that works better.
It helps keep you organized.
Not only can you keep track of appointments, kid’s events, etc., but you can also keep track of other tasks as well. Like I mentioned above I create a bunch of different checklists – monthly, weekly, and daily. I even have one to track how much water I am drinking. The possibilities are literally endless! I find I have much better days when I have these checklists.
It holds yourself accountable.
Being a stay at home Mom is hard. You have no one to answer to and the truth is you don’t really have to do anything. Having these daily checklists helps hold yourself accountable to yourself. Even though no one sees these checklists except you, if you are anything like me, you need to be able to check everything off to feel good about your day.
Here’s how to start!
I have a Samsung Tablet, so I use an app called Penly. This is not sponsored, I just really love this app and how customizable it is! I did a lot of research to find an app that was similar to the iPad’s Goodnotes. After downloading the app that works for you, you can use their simple templates inside the app or you can go over to Etsy and purchase one. Same goes for stickers. I personally just download clipart from google and import them into Penly, but you can also purchase them on Etsy.
It can be a little intimidating at first if you have never used a digital planner, but I promise you get the hang of it really quickly. I watched a lot of YouTube and TikTok tutorials to help me learn how to use my app. There are so many tips and tricks you can learn to better customize your pages!
I honestly didn’t use my planner throughout the Summer. There was just way too much going on, so now that school has started back up I’m ready to get back to it. Here are all of my pages and what my month of September looks like so far. These are always slightly changing or being added to as the days go by, but hopefully they give you some inspiration to create your own.

I’m the worst at keeping track of things. Like I’ve said before I love to be organized, but it is something I struggle with. I am the type of person who really has to try to to keep myself organized. It definitely doesn’t come naturally, so I love sharing my tips and tricks I’ve learned to keep myself and my home together! Digital planning is something I am a huge fan of. I may have to share even more details of how I create and plan my pages in the future, but for now I hope this gives you a little motivation!
